Pharaoh at a memorial altar

Curator, director, & healing artist

Pharaoh is a curator, director, and healing artist from Oakland, CA, based in Chicago for a decade. They hold a degree in comparative mythology from Santa Clara University and are a member of the 3Arts artist network.

They are a lifetime student of spirituality:

In 2023, Pharaoh joined the inaugural organizing team for the Bombay Beach Biennale and became the inaugural steward at the Poetry House for three years. They cleaned, designed, and cultivated the space with the help of community. Under their stewardship, the Poetry House hosted exhibits, performances, and weekly poetry salons for all levels of participation from January to March/April, 2023–2026.

Alongside their spirituality, Pharaoh has an accomplished theatre career, having worked professionally in theatre since 2014 at companies such as the Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Woolly Mammoth Theatre, and Berkeley Rep. Notable projects include Anna Deavere Smith’s Notes from the Field (Berkeley Rep, HBO), Revenge Song by Qui Nguyen (Oregon Shakespeare Festival), and Gravity: A Newtonian Musical (SFBATCO, Film FiftySix LLC). Their theatre career included curating and hosting hundreds of audience engagement events, talkbacks, and community actions.
